Brian has been around racing all of his life. At a young age he was introduced to racing by his father Ray Fitzpatrick who owned several dragsters and started a business manufacturing racing engines. Brian started his racing career in the bracket classes with the sand drags. He also raced go-karts in the 100 cc Yamaha class and won several events. In 2001, he started racing again with the A-fuel class with the sand drags and currently holds the mile per hour and E.T. record for the B-pro turbo class.
In 2007, Brian moved to asphalt racing and introduced his 2JZ twin turbo Toyota dragster to NHRA at Englishtown, New Jersey during exhibition runs while racing with the NOPI drag racing series.
In 2008, Brian traveled around the United States and raced in the NHRA/NOPI Extreme Dragster Class. He finished out the season 2nd in the points beating all other imports in his class.
In 2009, Brian raced in two classes, Top dragster and then transitioned over to the Competition Eliminator class. At the end of the season Brian reached his goal of becoming the quickest import in the world with a record elapsed time of 6.33 seconds at 221mph at the NHRA Las Vegas Nationals in the Competition Eliminator Class.
In 2010, Brian will be racing in the Lucas Oil Division 7 series along with racing at select NHRA national events. In Pomona at the Winternationals he broke his own record and ran an elapsed time of 6.22 seconds at 226 mph. [video]
Fitzpatrick Racing at the MAVTV Indy Car Race in Fontana this past weekend, Sept 15-16, 2012. It turned out to be a good event. They talked to a lot of racing enthusiasts and handed out CANDIAE promotional items.
They are gearing up for their next three NHRA Las Vegas races and have been invited by Garrett Turbo to put their car on display at the SEMA show October 30 - November 2, 2012 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Lucas Oil has scheduled the Fitzpatrick Racing dragster to display September 14th and 15th at the MAVTV 500 Indy Car race at California Speedway in Fontana! The team will have a display table and will be sharing important pet nutrition information with Race fans. CANIDAE natural dog food, and FELIDAE natural cat food information will be available to all of the race fans who stop by their table. Pictured is the dragster at the recent NHRA race in Sonoma.
Fitzpatrick Racing struggled valiantly at the NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas. They qualified #3 in the first race but unfortunately went out in the first round with a part malfunction in their primary engine. The second race using the backup engine was not any more successful with elimination in the first round. Tough weekend all around. The team is looking forward to the NHRA 4-Wide Nationals in Charlotte, NC. Pictured on the left is the Fitzpatrick Racing Team in the lastest issue of Drag Racing Magazine (July 2012).
Fitzpatrick Racing will be sporting a new paint scheme from ProLine Wraps and celebrating its 10th year with primary sponsor Lucas Oil Products. The Garrett twin-turbocharged dragster signed new sponsors Tap It Brewing Co, MavTV, and Lithionics Batteries. Continued support will come from CANIDAE Natural Pet Foods, ARP, Bosch, Garrett Turbo, Aeroquip, JE Pistons, Tial Sport, Component Development, and Heads Up Performance.

October 19-23, 2011, Brian Fitzpatrick and the Fitzpatrick Racing Team had their dragster on display at Relics & Rod’s 34th Annual Run to the Sun in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Brian and the Team were on hand to answer questions, pass out CANIDAE promotional items, talk to pet owners and just plain have a good time. There was a huge turn-out of over 800 show cars, making it a popular event for the classic car enthusiast and novice alike. Lucas Oil Motors Sports TV was on hand and interviewed Brian. Unfortunately dogs weren’t allowed but a Macaw made its way in and seemed to enjoy the CANIDAE stickers.
Brian Fitzpatrick and the Fitzpatrick Racing Team received the Turbo Engineering Best Engineered Vehicle Award for their ’98 dragster. They are currently sixth in the points for Division 7 and look forward to doing well in Las Vegas for their final NHRA Divisional race November 4 - 6.
Over the past weekend, Brian Fitzpatrick and the Fitzpatrick Racing Team tested the new motor and had good results, running a 6.40 with a top speed of 205, although Brian needed to shut off the engine at the high gear. Unfortunately, the test did not translate to the qualifying session, where the team struggled with tire shake and were eliminated in the first round.

With their new mascot Toby along for the ride, Fitzpatrick Racing took on the NHRA Jegs Sports Nationals and had a great weekend of racing. They started out as the number one qualifier at 6.28 seconds and 213 mph, and set a new national record at 6.36 seconds!
From there they made it to the Semi Finals, but due to a rain delay were unable to finish the race which has been rescheduled for later in the season at the Pomona Nationals.
Next up for Fitzpatrick Racing is Bakersfield for the NHRA Division 7 race. Will keep you posted with results!
The car ran great and Fitzpatrick Racing made it to the semi finals and currently stands 5th in points. They are preparing for the Las Vegas National Event this coming weekend and look forward to another successful outing!
"To start the season, Brian Fitzpatrick brought his little H/D to Pomona and quickly grabbed the top spot with a stunning 6.223. That, for the Comp junkies out there, was .777 under his national index. It was also one of the most spectacular runs in Comp history, at least in my mind. When you consider that he was driving a turbocharged six-cylinder car, that 6.223 is simply amazing. At that same race John Mihovetz was the number two qualifier with a 6.505 and that was .765 under his index. But it was at Pomona in November that John really got everyone's attention. At the last race of the season John cranked out an other-worldly 6.333 at over 231 mph. For the record that was .937 under his index. Neither Brian nor John won the races where they set those big numbers but their performances earn a spot in the Comp Hall of Fame nonetheless. At least I think they do. Congratulations to both. Remember, Bruno won the championship in '09 with a turbo car so maybe, just maybe, they are the wave of the future in Competition Eliminator." - from Drag Race Central's "From the Tower" by Bob Frey
We raced at the NHRA Finals in Pomona last weekend making it to the 2nd round. The video is an ad we were featured in for ARP. Look at the :30 mark! Great pictures from Pomona coming soon....
Fitzpatrick Racing just returned from the NHRA Division 7 race in Bakersfield, CA. They made it through the 1st round then in the 2nd round turned in a great reaction time, but about half track a rod gave out and terminated the motor. The Fitzpatrick team is now gearing up for the NHRA Las Vegas Nationals on October 28th, and the NHRA Las Vegas Divisionals on November 5th.
We did some testing last week at the NHRA National Open in Fontana, CA. We were Number 1 qualifier with a 6.43! We are preparing for the NHRA Div 7 race in Bakersfield, CA which will include two races -- Phoenix make up, and Bakersfield. Wish us luck! See you at the races. Brian Fitzpatrick, in his turbo Toyota, continues to move the bar way up for the rest of the Competition Eliminator field. This March 26-28 at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Pacific Division, event at Southwestern International Raceway in Tucson, Arizona he was the number 1 qualifier, making it to the semi finals. Fitzpatrick also set the national record in Competition Eliminator H/D class with 6.41 at 219 mph.
Spotlighted in National Dragster, Brian Fitzpatrick qualified his turbocharged six-cylinder (193-cid) Toyota powered dragster in the No. 1 spot in Comp with a 6.223, nearly eight-hundredths under the H/Dragster index. CANIDAE sponsored Fitzpatrick was the talk of the pits at the 2010 NHRA Winternationals, making it to round 3.
